Need some pointers on how to test POS with Sikuli

Asked by Madhavi

Hello All,

We are using XPIENT IRIS pos system. We run regression scripts on every build when xpient pushes new version every 6 mos., regression testing takes weeks to execute. I need to automate these scripts with Sikuli for my POC. Need some pointers/help from anyone who has already automated any POS system

Most likely you need an emulator. It looks like your software is fairly open and uses a web interface. So you may just need to set up a PC (eg Windows) and connect to your environment in the same way you would with a POS device. It would be better to have a proper separate test environment but not essential. After that it's straightforward SikuliX, simulating user actions on the IRIS screens.

Thank you very much, Mike! Appreciate your reply! However, few questions though -
1. Do I have to build simulator? How should I get one?

2. We already have separate test environment which is test POS terminal lab. I can connect to POS terminal thru VNC, but performance wise it is not good. Would I be able to directly test on POS terminal using SikuliX

Just fyi., POS Terminal consists of regular Front Office and Back Office - similar to one you see everywhere - in Retail, Restaurants etc. with MSR reader to read /swipe cards, so I need to simulate the hard peripherals as well? How should I do that using SikuliX

Thanks You!
