IE is opening a new tab instead of just switching

I'm using IE 11 and when I use the code "switchApp("Internet Explorer")" it works 2/3 times, but it occasionally opens a new tab. Anyone know why this happens/how I can stop it from happening?

using SikuliX 1.1.1?
