Visual based testing

Am new to sikuli.I want implement this in my project.Can you please suggest me how to proceed.If it is visual based, visuals will be changed from one system to another system right so how it will work in this scenario.
I need to run in Mac and Windows rarely in Linux kindly clarify. weather it will work or not.
