Sikuli opens and disappears quickly when you click on runIDE

Asked by Mike Bloom on 2017-02-11

A few years ago, I wrote a Sikuli script on my computer (HP Pavilion, Windows 7) and it opened (by clicking runIDE) and ran successfully everyday. Starting in mid-January, whenever I try to open it by clicking runIDE, the black command window appears very briefly but then disappears and the coding window doesn't appear at all. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

In an attempt to start Sikuli in a different way, I opened a command window and typed "runIDE" in the directory where it resides but received the following 6 lines:

'Files' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program, or batch file.
+++ Java not found in standard places C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files <x86>

+++ JAVA_HOME not specified
+++ ended with some errors

It looks like there was a Java update on my computer in mid-January. Might this problem have something to do with Java?

Thanks.

try with version 1.1.1 (http://sikulix.com)

... and yes the reason is Java upgrade.

Thanks for the quick response. I also had a follow-up question: Why don't the small screenshots in Sikuli copy well to another file? Whenever I've tried to copy & paste code from one file to another, the text copies correctly but in place of some of the screenshots there is a long number. Is there a way to get the screenshots to copy correctly?

Thanks and regards.

RaiMan proposed the following answer:
try with version 1.1.1 (http://sikulix.com)
RaiMan's SikuliX<http://sikulix.com/>
sikulix.com
When is SikuliX useful? You want to automate some repetitive tasks in. daily usage of applications or web pages; playing games; administration of IT systems and networks

... and yes the reason is Java upgrade.

I just checked: works with version 1.1.1

Take care, that the script you copy form is saved (not an Untitled tab).

Hi,

I just tried it with versions 1.1.0 and 1.1.1 (what is a "nightly build"?). With both versions, the installation was successful and when I double-click "runsikulix", the black command window opens, but the editor window never opens.

I attached a screenshot of the error message in the black command window (it complained about not being able to load JIntellitype.dll from local file system or from inside JAR). During the installation process, I

chose Option 1.

Why would I be getting this error? When I completed the installation, it told me that everything was installed successfully.

Be sure to have purged everything belonging to previous versions of Sikuli(X) and reset your environment settings (especially path) to a pre-Sikuli version.

Then retry with a clean installation of version 1.1.1

BTW: "nightly build" is a term in software development for pre-final versions, that are revised and rebuild on a regular base, to get nearer towards a final version.
1.1.1 is currently in a state of pre-final.

Thank you for your quick responses. It seems to work now ( I didn't have to do anything to my environment settings; I actually am not comfortable playing with the environment settings).
