Problems installing SikuliX 1.1.0 in Windows 8/10 --- try version 1.1.1

Asked by owen long

I tried to install sikuli 1.1.0 into three Windows PC, two Win 10 (home) and one Win 8 (home). Succeeded on one Win 10, while failed on the other two. The failure message popped out on both failure cases. Guess a stable error case I have got, and possiblely helpful to improve the robustness of sikuli installation procedure on Windows machine.

Please, check the name of your win-user account on the PCs. It should be non unicode-named (Latin etc. but not Russian, Chinese etc.). If so, login to the latin-named user, install, make bat file to run Sikuli under latin-named user and use this bat file in your unicode-named user account.

Thanks for Raiman's reminding and the detail instruction on user account of Alex.
The install procedures on 3 PC are the same, did by one person with administrator account.
Before the installation read through the quick start guide and follow it exactly.
The difference is mainly the transmission speed when downloading the sikulix installation stuffs. The success one is connected to sikulix.com via vpn. and the rest two not. The internet transfer speed is very low on the two failed PC. Actually even in the success one, the installation failed at least twice before finally success.

if there is anything else can be tried, please let me know.

Then the problem might be corrupted downloads, which is only detected at time of usage later.

A workaround having a valid installation:

copy the ...Downloads... folders to the <SikuliXAppData> folder on the target machine. The setup will now run with the available artefacts. if you confirm that they should be used.

It might be sufficient, to only copy the offending artefacts as reported in the setup log file.

Can you help with this problem?
