Does smaller region make finding image more effective?

This is just a general question. In finding an image - would making a smaller region be more effective in finding an image compared to finding an image on the entire screen?

Just wondering because sometimes my images are not very big and it is not found on the screen.

Depends what you mean by "effective".

Defining a smaller region will indeed be more effective in terms of search time.
But if you mean more effective in terms of finding or not finding a pattern on the screen then it makes no difference, just takes longer.
