Sikuli text() function and eastern fonts

Asked by Sergio Missori

Hello,

in think3.eu we are using Sikuli to test our CAD application and we are happy and positively impressed from this tool.

As we test installation in different languages we were wondering if the text() region method is capable to recognize japanese fonts, for example.

I went through your FAQ and bugs pages and even the Tesseract wiki but I didn't find refeence about this.

Thanks

With the current Tesseract 2 implementation of Sikuli this is not possible.

Tesseract 3 has more options in learning new languages and fonts. But I guess, this will take a while until we have it available in Sikuli. I am sure it will be the next step in the next 3 months, since some basics are already available in a development version.

The only possibility currently is, to create exact images from fonts using the Java grafics features and use these images to search.

Thanks for the quick answer.

It's clear. We will try working with image matching untill Tesseract 3 will be integrated. Maybe we could help testing it when it will come.
