transport calculation with different electrode

Hi,
 I would like to do transport calculation with different left and right electrode.
Whether it is required to give vacuum after electrode in order to avoid interaction between 2 type of electrode or giving buffer region is enough ?
In the relax calculation of such structure is it required to give vacuum region along z direction?

Both vacuum and buffer atoms would be desirable.
