wifi will not connect wirelessly, only on hardwire, why?

I just loaded Linux Mint v. 19.2 Cinnamon and it will not connect to my wireless wifi, it used to under Windown 7 Pro. I did a clean install of Linux after first electing it to erase the windown 7 OS. Am I doing something wrong? On a Dell InD 64-bit Athlon X2 and system has 2 gb Ram.
