Any chance of changing the application name?

In general this is not a big problem.
Especially english-speaking users seem to have some "funny" associations. I didn't think of it at first like that.

We've already discussed this some time ago. A bit pity because the name GScrot is known already...

Do you have any suggestions for a new name? Maybe we should do a poll at the website.

I doubt it's just English because "scrotum" is a Latin word so it most likely is used in other European languages. The word "G-spot" is very new so I am surprised if other languages are using anything different.

I don't have suggestions ATM, but maybe if you can get suggestions using a thread in Ubuntu Forums, then later use the suggestions collected to hold a poll.

How about "Snap"?

Gscrot makes tasks normally done on screenshots much easier - editing,
applying an effect, uploading. In a way, it allows them to do in a 'snap' -
so very quickly. Plus, 'snap' also related to snapping a photo (taking a
photo), so it makes sense in the context of a featureful screenshot program.

I like "Snap". Definitely one of my favorites...

Here is another suggestion:

"Shootingstar" or "Shootingstar!"

I am assuming "Snap" would have already been trademarked by some company.

You could spell it "Scnap" to pay homage to "sc"rot.

But you should do this on the Ubuntu forum in the community cafe section as you will get more input.

"shooting*" doesn't sound like something serious. I haven't seen a software
called "snap" either - so no need to make assumptions. I'll search about
though.
