Shutter not working any more, Ubuntu Trusty

Asked by Eglefino

Since a Firefox update to 37.02 I didn't see the icon of Shutter above near the other icons, that was the time to start with my Shutter problems. I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty changed at the Download Centre in 'Gnome Flashback'. I use the Ubuntu Fall/Flashback module since the start with it and I like it very well. Even the Shutter program I like it very well, there is no other program what I can use, so I'm unlikely inconvenienced !

In the man-pages I've read about what's possible with Shutter, but when the program don't show again in my browser I can't p.e. control the version of Shutter. And I really don't know if it's a 'bug', mu know-how of Ubuntu in general is not jet high enough I think.

I've written my error messages and Unix/Linux error-messages are pretty to read most of the time, so I tried myself also something.

Problems started after an update of Firefox to 37.02, exact date of the update I don't know.

I downloaded [ in Synaptic] the 'gnome-web-photo' module and re-installed Shutter and
got next message today, after another try.

In Firefox I cannot see anything about Shutter, because when working it shows his icon..... To install myself the Glib (as a try) it should for me a little tricky with the disabling of Ubuntu One.... which one for my login/password? So I didn't try further steps...

I hope to find a solution with my question here.

I do not think this is somehow connected. Please try to kill all running Shutter instances via terminal and the try to run Shutter via terminal again.

I read your two lines twice to understand that I have to delete (kill) something in the process what I can not see with my eyes.
In general I don't like something like that, because I always want to control what I'm doing in Ubuntu.

After searching & reading the information about 'kill' & how to use it: http://askubuntu.com/questions/104903/how-do-i-kill-processes-in-ubuntu I gave the command 'ps -ef' and found this line about shutter:

eglefino 2339 2204 0 mei16 ? 00:01:25 /usr/bin/perl /usr/bin/shutter --min_at_startup --disable_systray

and a few lines back I saw this line as example to use the command 'kill':

eglefino 2173 2040 0 mei16 ? 00:00:00 /usr/lib/ibus/ibus-x11 --kill-daemon

But as I read your message again, you tell me (I think) to kill all what is running, so what will I use for command ?, because with killall I delete all of "schutter" what is running OR all what is installed too? That I want to know for sure, if I only kill what is running with the command "killall shutter" with(out) sudo.....
