Shortcut keys for plugins

Hi,

I often take a snapshot and then use one or more of the image plugins - usually the "torned paper" one. I'd love it if there could be a shortcut key to apply a plugin to an image.

I'd like to have a go at writing some code to support this - any tips on how/where to start would be appreciated.
