Clipboard support for Dropbox URLs

Asked by Zachary Pinter

Hello,

I'm in the process of migrating away from OS X, and am looking to setup a situation similar to this:

http://zacharypinter.com/2009/05/01/easy-screenshot-sharing-with-dropbox-and-hazel.html

I see that I can configure shutter to saving screenshots in my Dropbox public folder, and I can copy the file url into my clipboard. However, I'm looking to translate that file location into a dropbox url. Would you please point me in the correct direction? Does the plugin API allow for something like that? I see that Bug #339920 is a similar request, but might be tied in with FTP support. Will that fix allow me to specify a clipboard URL even when not using FTP?

Thanks!

We've recently added support for Ubuntu One (comparable to Dropbox) to
Shutter.

See: https://bugs.launchpad.net/shutter/+bug/506181
Here is a screencast showing the functionality: http://ubuntuone.com/p/6TL/

If you want to give the current beta version a try go to:
https://launchpad.net/~shutter-testing-team/+archive/ppa/+packages

You need to install "libnet-dbus-glib-perl" and "shutter". Please make
sure you configure a valid Ubuntu One account.

I'll open another bug for Dropbox support. As far as I know they provide
a DBUS interface as well.

Regards
Mario
