How do I combine screenshots into one

I tried edit #2 screenshot, then copy. Went to edit #1 screenshot, then paste, but both screenshots are the same size. Pasting just overlaps the original picture. Is there a way to enlarge the canvas? Or can I combine the screenshots?

Sure, see here (the video shows an outdated version of Shutter but that
shouldn't matter):

Yes.

1) Go to the session tab and select the screenshots you want to combine
2) Click Edit >> Copy (Ctrl+C)
3) Select File >> New >> Import from clipboard (Shift+Ctrl+V)

Voila!
