How to use compose key with pair-matching characters?

Asked by saniac

I use a compose key to enable me to type characters with diacritics. I set it up with setxkbmap.

However, Scribes seems to intercept and override keystrokes for ', ", and so on, so I can't for example compose a and " to get ä. Instead, Scribes inserts a pair of those characters and my composed character never appears.

Is there a setting I have overlooked that would enable me to use the compose key when using Scribes?

I don't have a solution for this issue. I think the best thing to do for now is to disable bracket completion. To do that edit the following file as root.

 /usr/lib/scribes/GenericPlugins/PluginBracketCompletion.py

Change "autoload" on line 4 from "True" to "False".

Then restart Scribes. This should disable bracket completion.
