a] Remove line numbering? b] which Spell checker

Asked by jessejazza

a] I love Scribes for text editing - my use is for word editing not coding (just occasionally). After checking the menus i thought line numbering perhaps wasn't an option. Then i clicked on a .txt file as i couldn't remember from it's name what it was and it opened without line numbering. I'm wondering if i pressed some key accidentally which switched it off.

b] Out of interest which is the spell checker Ispell, Aspell ? I'm english GB - english US and english australian have quite a few spelling differences.

thanks

a] Was the file in readonly mode?

b] It uses either. As long as you have the GB module installed it should work.

b] ok thanks

a] Accidently i clicked on a file and noticed no numbers. Using Scribes i thought one couldn't remove line numbering. Just checked on a .conf - yes no numbers in read only mode. Is it possible to remove in write mode? - perhaps editing a rc file or something.

thanks

Have you considered using Scribes in Fullscreen (WriteRoom) mode? That hides line numbers too, if you want a distraction free experience. Just press F11.

Can you help with this problem?
