Journal now missing lesson notes

Asked by Laurie Savage

One of the features I liked about SchoolTool 2008 was that on clicking throught the "Journal" link from the calendar, I was presented not only with a class attendance sheet, but two text boxes in which I could enter Public and Private notes and observations. I found this was very useful self-auditing tool.

It seems to have disappeared in the latest version, at least in the simple, combined layout.

Hi Laurie,

That feature had been added to the Journal without much thought to how it fit in with the rest of the application. I would like to re-implement lesson plans in a way that worked consistently across the journal/gradebook/calendar.

I sent an email to the schooltoolers mailing list asking for ideas about how to re-implement this feature in a way that makes more sense throughout SchoolTool as a whole, so perhaps we can move the discussion to that thread.

I'd like to reopen this question with a suggestion for reimplementation.
Since the gradebook should be for keeping track of graded papers and the calender links to the journal, it makes sense to have the notes in the journal.
A simple link to a pop-up text-box would be all that is needed ( see image)
