NVIDIA X Server alert

Asked by Adamw

This is not really a bug because if I had any knowledge of linux/ubuntu it would need no answer :)
Okay... I am running ubuntu 9.04 x86 64bit(New install) on an HP laptop.
I run the install for the NVIDIA restricted driver (Version 180) and the first couple times it crashed, then it worked. When I open "Nvidia X Server Settings it gives me this message:
"You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig` as root), and restart the X server."

I dont really know what to do.
I tried "Sudo nvidia-xconfig" and it did not seem to work.
If anyone can show me what to do I will be grateful
--Thanks!
