Discipline Module

Asked by Phillip Tarrant on 2009-02-16

Hello,
I am the IT manager of a small (350 student) private school and we are looking into changing our SIS system. School Tool is an amazing product, and will most likely be our SIS. However, we need something that does Discipline as well. I am not sure if this is "in the works" as I can't see anything about it here or on the main page.

Is a Discipline module in the works?

In the interest of helping / lots of details

I had made 2 prototypes (separate from school tool) in ASP and PHP (using sql) for fun / testing awhile back. My version had the following things:
date of incident
student name
classroom / teacher reporting

*incident (i had check boxes)
-tardy
-talking
-willfull refusal
-dress code violation
-fighting
-other (with notes)

*actions recommended
-student conference (mainly a "talking too")
-parent conference
-detention
-in school suspension
-out of school suspension

*actions taken
-student conference (mainly a "talking too")
-parent conference (also included a *notes* area so administration could add notes during the conference)
-detention
-in school suspension
-out of school suspension

and a seperate area showing if the action (detention or whatnot) was served

as i have no experience with python or zope i doubt my PHP version could even interface with school tool. the above is mainly just an "idea's pitch"

Thanks
Phil

Hi Phil,

We've been working with the Science Leadership Academy in Philadelphia to create an "intervention" system that handles the later part of this process -- focusing more on "actions taken" and particularly following up on actions taken with the relevant stakeholders.

They've been using this in production all year. Our current plan is to clean it up and package it after we get our core release out in April. The additional steps around tracking incidents could probably be added to it, although I can't give you a time frame for that.

Are you thinking about an SIS deployment this fall? Feel free to email me directly at <email address hidden>

Can you help with this problem?
