sudo /etc/init.d/schooltool-2008 stop

should do it.

sudo /etc/init.d/schooltool-2008 start

should get it going again.

Jayandra (jayandra) said : #2

is it (stop/start) persistent through sessions

If you don't want SchoolTool to start on boot, remove the symlink (using 'sudo') from /etc/rc2.d/S20schooltool-2008.
