You could only use the calendars in SchoolTool 2008, but you can't turn off or hide the rest of the functionality without digging into the code. We have tried to keep things modular enough internally that it could be done, but we don't have the time to do it ourselves.

it this simply a "visual" issue, means that there are links to other (sub-)modules, or is there a definitive performance draw-back?

the reason for asking this is, that i might be able to alter the template(s) to add some kind of #DEFINES here and there, but digging into the python code is a little bit to much for my current workload.

raoul

It would at least involve un-wiring a lot of component registrations. It would at least take a good understanding of Zope 3 and some time.

Thanks Tom Hoffman, that solved my question.

Are there any news on that topic?

I have to transfer our schoolbell 1.2.4 to a newer server and have the opportunity to either fight with a very old version of Zope or try to shrink schooltool to the calendar.

What would you recommend?

Thank you in advance!

Nowadays you can disable the tabs. Go to Server -> [Settings] Tabs -> uncheck all "visible", keep only calendar. You might also want to keep "Home" tab.
Sysadmin will still have access to "School" and "Server", but other users will not.

Thank you, that was straight forward.

Got schooltool-2.0.4.tar.gz
Installed it on Scientific Linux 6.4
Installed a few packages
Did what you wrote in README.txt
Test server is up and running

If nothing goes wrong I'm able to burry another "legacy" application (schoolbell 1.2.4)

Thanks!
