Ubuntu 16.04 PDF not generating

When selecting anyone of the report card link I am getting html code "{"html": "<div>\n <table class=\"report-dialog-message\">\n <tbody>\n <tr>\n <td>\n Description\n <\/td>\n <td>Contains scores from report sheets and attendance. For use by school staff.<\/td>\n""

It looks like jquery package in 16.04 is 1.11.3, not sure if this is the cause, per previous ticket schooltools requires 1.7.2.
Or a suggested workaround? I would rather not downgrade to a version below current distro.
