Add class in gradebook

Asked by Peter Dracvel

Would it be possible to add pupils classes listbox related to the sections? This kind should improve overall management od school. Now we have to define sections like:
A1 - Math
A1 - Physics
A1 - Biology
A2 - Math
....

If there would be another listbox with classses, we could define less secions:
A1:
- Math
- Physics
- Biology
A2:
- Math
...

using worksheet templates for Math, Physics, Biology (sheets and activity/columns in gradebook)

Or alternatively, it would be even better to define secions like:
Class A1
Class B1
Class C1
Class A2
.
.
Class C6

and define worksheets like:
Math
Physics
Biology

so we could even calculate average score from all of the subjects using linked columns. Unfortunately, we can't define permissions to worksheets for teachers (all of the teacher belonging to section have write permission to all of the worksheets in the section). Is this functionality planned for schooltool version 3.0?

I think I follow what you're proposing -- multiple sheets for different courses within a single section? It is not a bad idea, but not something we have any plans to implement.

Yes, exactly. Absence of this functionality cause to much administrative effort when defining section that includes classes with subjects. For example when we've got:
Class 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D (pupils born in 2008)
.
.
Class 6A, 6B, 6C, 6D (pupils born in 2003)

we have to define matrix 24 multiply by number of subjects (math, physics, biology and so on). In opposite we could define only 24 sections and add subjects (math, physics, biology and so on) using worksheets in sections.

All of the folowing questions are related to each other to make much less time consuming for school administration.

Apart from that, schooltool is the best existing system for schools on the market, almost complete solution. Nothing special as it was supported by Ubuntu founder :)
