web based student registration

I read the documentation , At the moment every record staffs , students in the tool has to be manually created as i understand .
Is there a way to enable webbased student registration or am i asking for too much from the tool.
The idea behind is we can implement the server and have the students register on their own .
Once they fill in the details the Admin staff gets the notification and can approve the registeration.
Does this feature exists in the current version or will it be implemented in the versions to come ?

We have implemented this for a client. We could add it as an option in the next release (around the end of the year). Requests like this make it more likely...
