Authorities of school administrator and site manager groups

Asked by Zainuddin

I would like to refer to the 2 groups which exist by default in schooltool. It seems that these 2 groups have the same authority and functions the groups could perform (correct me if I am wrong). How about making site manager group has all the functions as the school administrator except that it could not do editing including adding and deleting people, group etc. Is it possible, and could it be considered?

Yes, we've received several requests along these lines and will almost certainly implement a change in the April release.

The only problem at this point is that there is no agreement on which of the administration roles should become read-only. Depending on your school, there may be an argument for the site manager, school administrator or clerk. We'll just have to pick one. I'm leaning toward clerk.

Dear Tom,

In our region, usually data entry and editing is basically part of clerical
job. Most institutions in our region delegate the hands-on data entry and
editing to the clerk as part of their clerical jobs. Mostly managers dwell
on purely management unless there are some who want the ability to edit
information in the data base if there is urgency.
Since schooltool is used worldwide, the terms are surely used differently.
Maybe you could consider new group as "Supervisor" that can only view the
information.

I guess it would be easy enough to just add it as an option to pick one (or none) of the three roles to be read only.
