Are there any plans to add a billing module?

Are there any plans to add a billing module to SchoolTool? I run a small language school and use SchoolTool as my SIS. I'd love an integrated billing module, something as simple as printing fee payment receipts. Currently we have to run a separate billing program.

Not at this time from our core funding -- we've really got enough loose ends in the existing functionality to keep us busy for this year. This has been something that there have been steady requests for though.

Are there any similar open source accounting packages that might fit or would it be better to start from the beginning?

To be honest it is hard to say because it isn't clear to me that everybody is thinking of the same thing when they refer to "billing."

manager.io is a free ubuntu based accounts system which you could possibly link (import balances) daily?
