sbackup

backing up to a fat32 partition

I'm trying to do make a backup to a fat32 partition.
Sbackup doesn't even start and gives an error "permission denied"

I am owner of the partition and have read & write permissions.
Is it due to the fat32 format or is it a permissions issue?
