This question was originally filed as bug #689335.

The reporter is asking how to switch sbackup to use 7zip. Although this can possibly be a future feature addition. I feel the reporter wants a more immediate solution to their problem. So a question would be more suitable.

Thank you for using SBackup and for taking the time asking this question.

No, you can't use 7zip with SBackup. The only supported compression formats are: gzip, bzip. It is not planned to support 7zip in the foreseeable future.

In case my input is of any consequence, I found this page after a web search because I was interested in this very functionality. I started using 7zip relatively recently, and its compression abilities are very impressive.

I would love to see either explicit support for 7zip in sbackup or see the compression functionality modularized so that we can specify arbitrary command lines for compression and decompression.

Can you help with this problem?
