Sameplace keeps asking for a certificate on every Firefox startup?

Why does Sameplace keep asking for a certificate every time I start Firefox?

I give it a certificate but next time I open Firefox it searches the net, locking up Firefox, and asks me to prove who I am all over again. This is really annoying. I would think that if having a certificate is that important, it would store the info when presented.

The intended behaviour is to ask once and save it. We're re-using Firefox dialog to do that, so that *should* work out of the box.

What server are you connecting to?

OK I have more info for you:

Sameplace has been hanging and crashing Firefox. It seems to be interfering with ForcastFox Enhanced. I see the server name "sameplace.cc/sameplace" where ForcastFox Enhanced is loading on statusbar. Meanwhile the system is just hanging. Then it askes for the certificates at least twice. It ALWAYS starts up although I set the default behavior to NOT start till I started it. If I disable Sameplace, everything pops up and works without hesitation. Another thing I noticed is that it can't seem to keep the account info. I constantly have to reenter my IM account info.

Sorry guys but this extension is way too buggy for general use. I really love the idea of an integrated IM and I love the OpenID implementation but there are way to many issues. I know it's still in development so I'm going to leave it disabled and periodically enable it to check it out as you update it.

1) About Forecastbar Enhanced (Forecast_bar_, right?): i tried it with SamePlace devel and there is no any strange things, may be you will give us full list of your extensions to investigate it?..
2) About certificate: one or two days ago, one user in chatroom complained about certificate issue, but in his case, it was due actions from Kaspersky Internet Security suite. Are you using this? If not, may be you will provide screenshot of certificate attempt?..

This happens if Firefox couldn't close correctly and thus save account in the prefs. If you are "killing" Firefox from the task manager, that would explain it.

SamePlace has been stable for several months. Unfortunately in Firefox 3 the same code which in Firefox 2 connects fine to talk.google.com, acts unreliably and this forced me to implement an ugly workaround. It seems to work for most but fail in the ungraceful way you've seen for some. I want it to work in 100% of the cases so I consider it work still in progress.
