internal im using ejabberd it says I'm online but cannot see anyone else

Asked by rewtal

Hello,

We have a small internal IM setup using Ejabberd-1.4 and Spark as the client. I stumbled upon Sameplace and saw it would connect to a jabber server so I thought I would try it. I get the green light as though I am connected but I see no one else logged in. We have a couple of chatrooms and I when I connect again I get the green light but if I type anything I get eror (503).

I think I am missing something fundamental about this, the im accounts we use have nothing to do with any email account. I am just hosting the jabber server on our internal file server.

Thank You

Walter

Walter,

503 is service-unavailable, are you sure you are connecting to the chatroom component? If your server is "jabberhost.localnet", the chatroom component is probably "conference.jabberhost.localnet", so you should enter "<email address hidden>" in the Join Room dialog.

As for no contacts appearing in the contact list, are they online? Try selecting "Hide/show offline contacts" from the second menu.

Can you help with this problem?
