Stop sidebar from opening automatically at startup?

Asked by chmg32

I have searched through answered questions already posted but can't seem to find an answer - which is surprising. Perhaps I overlooked something? I'd like to stop SamePlace from opening automatically when I start Firefox - is this possible? I don't see anything under 'Preferences'. It's a minor issue - I can just hit F12 or use the mouse to get rid of it, but it seems like it ought to be a fairly standard option. Thanks.

Sidebar should only open (and only in the "compact" form, i.e. the thin vertical strip) when your account connects automatically at startup. If in the preferences you uncheck the "Login on startup", it won't open. If you wanted to both connect automatically and have the compact sidebar not open, there is no option for it at the moment (nor it was ever asked for, although it's not unreasonable).

Thanks, Bard. So strange - I'm on a different computer now and it works exactly as you say it ought. I'll have to check it again on the first computer tomorrow -- I could have sworn that I had unchecked the "Login on startup", but I could be confused. Thanks again.
