cannot see MSN contacts

Asked by Nuvolari

I have used Account Wizard to log in ICQ and MSN accounts (after registrating to Sameplace service).

While I get an "aim.sameplace.cc" contact and all my single icq contacts in the contact list (so ICQ is working good), about MSN I get only the contact "msn.sameplace.cc" without any single MSN contact! I tried and retried more than once, it seems the MSN transport is not completed even if I get a "done!" after the registration of my MSN account through Account Wizard option.

What's the matter with MSN?
Can I force in anyway the single contacts to come out?
Should I just wait a bit? (About ICQ account I got a message after a while telling me the number of transports done)

Thank you for help,
Nuv

Hi, try to reimport contacts.

1) SamePlace menu TOOLS
2) Import contacts
3) As address use: msn.sameplace.cc
4) Enter your MSN username & password
5) Go Offline, then Online again.

Let me know.

1) I deleted the "old" msn.sameplace.cc from my list.
2) I followed your istructions

the result is:
1) at the top of the sameplace sidebar I get the message "1 request is pending"...
2) I give my ok, and the contact "msn.sameplace.cc" come back into my contacts list but once again not the single contacts! :-(

May it depend on my (MSN) user which is not a @hotmail.xxx?
It's an old (but currently working) one, created when it was possible to register to MSN from "other" email addresses (not sure it's still allowed now)

Did you logout and login?

Unfortunately yes :-(

Is it possibile to reset the content of the own msn.sameplace.cc? (I guess it contains the contact list ?!)
I tried also with another MSN account but I get in trouble also because I don't undestand which one should be on through SamePlace, the last (MSN) account I have set? Both?

Besides, to verify: I deleted aim.sameplace.cc and all the single ICQ contacts, I followed your istructions for ICQ and I got "1 request pending" (aim.same.place.cc) and after few seconds "n request pending" (one for each of my single ICQ contacts)... giving the ok they were registered back again.

But redoing the same (always with ICQ) it doesn't work anymore! :-o
It seems like the account is still "on" in any way... maybe is the same problem as the MSN account, really I don't understand, but there must be something strange :-(

Without any further help, I will retry tomorrow when (I hope) all the accounts will be off and not "pending" anymore.

At last, which would be the last stable version of SamePlace?

People menu -> Hide/Show offline contacts.
Be sure there is no "msn.sameplace.cc" contact.
It's pretty weird 'cos I use MSN transport without problems.
Some error in Firefox Error Console?

Well, first of all I tried at home, where I have no proxy, but I got the same troubles:
1- only this version is working for me (http://repo.hyperstruct.net/suite/sameplace-suite-release.xpi), with the others I cannot connect at all (neither to SamePlace, nor to GTalk)... that is strange too, why I cannot make work the others?
2- I still can't get the MSN contact list, but only the "msn.sameplace.cc" contact

Here the Error Console "at home":
(changed id, user and password with "xxx")

anything "unavailable" ?

Should I give up? :-(

Further info about my "msn.sameplace.cc":
it must remain off, the "black ball" on the left stays, and if I open a chat clicking on it I get this:
"Error (401) : Error. You must log into the transport before sending messages."

(obviously my MSN user and password are correctly inserted and I'm logged with my sameplace.cc account)

Actually I don't know...
I have just one account in my SamePlace account list: <email address hidden>.
When I log in, I get my contacts list. One of this contacts is "msn.sameplace.cc".
A few seconds after being connected, I get all my MSN contacts :-/
If you can connect to your sameplace account, you can come to <email address hidden>
or <email address hidden> (italian users support room).
Maybe we can solve your problem in live chat, being faster than here.

It really seems like the transport isn't managing to log in on your behalf to the MSN network. If username and password are indeed correct, the only other possibility I can ink of is the recent policy change made by MSN aimed at "encouraging" users to migrate to MSN Live IDs.

It may be as I have never got in with my no-hotmail MSN account through Sameplace, while I can with my hotmail one.
The strange thing is that I have this problem only with Sameplace as I can use the no-hotmail account with any other third part web server (or desktop pgm) and even with MSN Messenger and Windows Live Messenger!

Anyway thanks to everybody, this not properly solved my problem, but ok, that's it.
