Can't create an account using Account Wizard

Trying to set up my account to use AIM. When I use the Account Wizard to setup Sameplace or Sameplace and AIM, it just spins. I completed the form including setting up an account name and password, then press the next button. In both cases it looks like it is trying to do something, but nothing happens. It show the progress line going across the screen, but never progresses to the next step.

1) Setup Error Console: open new tab and type "about:config", type "xmpp" in Filter field
2) Check that string "xmpp.logTarget" is set to "console". Close tab.
3) Try to setup account now
4) If happens again (no connection to server), check Firefox/Thunderbird Error Console (Tools -> Error Console).
5) Search for Errors related to SamePlace or xmpp4moz.

Please, post also Information about SamePlace and Firefox/Thunderbird versions.

I changed the value you mentioned to "console" and it still will not work. No errors posted in the console re: sameplace or xmpp4moz.

Hi,

I seem to be having the same problem, but in Thunderbird (it's not installed on my Firefox). I configured Google talk just fine, but I can't get the others to work. I have set up a sameplace account through the website. That worked fine, but when I input the same info in the account wizard the status bar just keeps moving. Nothing seems to be happening. I'm using Thunderbird 2.0.0.12 and Sameplace 0.9.2.2008040512

Krazik, scotte, first of all sorry, there was an uncommitted patch for
xmpp4moz 0.6.2/SamePlace 0.9.2 which fixed registration.
addons.mozilla.org users weren't affected because addons still carries
0.6.1. You should get a new build of xmpp4moz via auto-update soon,
or force it via Tools -> Addons -> Find updates.

Let me know if there are still issues after that.

That seemed to work. I am having problems getting my AOL account to connect, but I wanted to got through FAQs first before I submit that one. Thanks for your help!

I've got this same problem (spinning of the progress bar), but only with the twitter account: msn and gmail worked. I AM using it as a firefox addon.
