cannot access the shared printer of ubuntu 10.04

i cannot view the shared printer in ubuntu 10.04 through the network. This happens when i shutdown and powered On the printer connected the pc. I can only access the printer when i saving the smb.conf file. I am sure that the smb.conf file has read and write permissions. what could be the problem.
