installing sahana

Asked by George

I have transferred the sahana files to my root directory of my site. I point to www.templevoad.org/sahana/www/
The first screen comes up, all the checks are complete. I click on the next button and I come to the database screen. I put in the mysql information and it comes to a blank sahana page, no error messages, just a page with a sahana header.
I am stumped..

I was about to promote sahana as a proof of concept project but i cannot
present it with these warnings popping up....
Is there a more stable release that I can use, that would not display these
warnings? Please advise...
Thanks
George

Unfortunately not - these are just 'warnings', not 'errors' & they only appear in the logfile.
The application works fine regardless.
I do agree that it would be useful to not have these at all, so suggest you log a bug in the bugtracker:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker2/?group_id=127855&atid=709778

George -

First of all, http://wiki.sahana.lk/doku.php?id=doc:or:english is the page in the wiki that you need. It provides detailed information on the organisation registry module.

Hope you don't mind but I've created a user on your Sahana instance, tim_from_launchpad. Would you be able to give this user supervisory access? Once granted, I'll have a look and see if anything is out of the ordinary.

I am very keen for the Temple VOAD to see Sahana in action. I've heard a lot about VOAD and believe that Sahana could help.

Thanks for your patience,

Tim

Hi George,

Not an error on your part at all.

As it stands, Sahana doesn't know how to populate areas with location information (yet), such as cities, based on where you initially set its location. They need to be added manually at this stage via the Administrator's menu. This is one of the reasons why we strongly suggest pre-deployment of the application.

You can also set the number and types of location levels. For example, you can remove the need to say it's from the United States, but add 'suburb' and 'street' if you desire.

If you are suggestion to all of the members of the VOAD to apply the technology, I would strongly suggest having a detailed talk about ensuring consistent spelling and capitalisation of place names. This will make synchronisation of data much easier.

Hope this helps,

Tim
