EDXL

Asked by Andy Louis

Hi,
I just have a quick question!
I know that Sahana implemented EDXL-CAP and EDXL-HAVE.

My question is:
Does Sahana implement EDXL-RM?

Thanks,
A

No Sahana does not implement EDXL-RM as far as I know.

See here for the different standards vs the versions of Sahana

OK, Thanks for the link!
I was wondering what standard you were using for the Request/Aid Management tool that I found here
http://demo.sahanafoundation.org/agasti/sahana-0.6.3/www/

Looks pretty close to EDXL-RM.

Thanks,
A.

OK. Have not looked at EDXL-RM in detail. How do you find it similar? Could
always do with some help implementing it if you are interested :-)

At the conceptual level, it looks pretty close.

EDXL-RM is:
+ Suite of standard messages for data sharing among emergency and other information systems that deal in requesting and providing resources
+ Allows Request/response type messages
+ Allows to Notify others of changes (update, recall) or offer resources

EDXL-RN offers 16 predefined message types
RequestResource
ResponseToRequestResource
ResponseToRequestResource
RequisitionResource
CommitResource
RequestInformation
ResponseToRequestInformation
OfferUnsolicitedResource
ReleaseResource
RequestReturn
ResponseToRequestReturn
RequestQuote
ResponseToRequestQuote
RequestResourceDeploymentStatus
ReportResourceDeploymentStatus
RequestExtendedDeploymentDuration
ResponseToRequestExtendedDeploymentDuration

When I played with the web tool, I immediately felt like it was EDXL-RM but couldn't find any resource to confirm that.
I think that most of the element offered when making a request could be wrapped in EDXL-RM.

Thanks again,
A

Yup, well the tools have been build with the sames field experiences and
best practices as the standards I am sure. So I am not surprised about the
alignment. You are most welcome to join us to work or help guide this
implementation as we are keen to implement in Sahana as well.
