rocket suitable for production

Asked by simon drennan

Hi, I use web2py and kinda like the inbuilt Rocket server. The community suggests thet Rocket is replaced by a server such as apache, nginx, cherokee when moving to production. I want to find out if Rocket can actually be used in production?
I suppose these are questions of security, stability and scalability. For sure, Rocket is easy to get going. The others are causing me considerable integration headache. If Rocket is suitable, then I would like to consider its use for production. Clearly - only if it would NOT cause issues (biggest concerns are scalability/capacity and then security).
The community are very helpful but do point to the modularity and hardness of other solutions.

Scalability: Because of my specific application, I assess I will have a max of 10,000 visitors a month. GIven the visiting time, I think that there would would be perhaps 10 consurrent users, each spending perhaps 5-10 minutes, on average. under some circumstances, perhaps there would be 50 concurrent users for a short period.

Stability. This server has to run 24/7.

Security: I am not processing credit cards, but do have user accounts to login in (perhaps a max of 100 users who manage content for the 10,000 visitors). I will probably use SSL.

I will be using a ubuntu 12.04 LTS server.

I would be extrememly grateful for your views in the suitability of Rocket for this production use.
I am also intrested in locating docs on SSL deployment for Rocket.

Many thanks for your kind consideration, and for any guidance you can offer.
Simon
