Does the Riven X engine potentially works with Myst-Masterpiece ?

Asked by bfight

Hello,

The Riven X project is quite close to its first release, but I was wondering about the completion of making the full Myst series working on Mac-Intels.

Myst : Masterpiece is the first one of this great video game of the serie, but it only works with OS 9 and below. And it is the last one that does not work on OS X (without realMyst).

Does the Riven X engine potentially works with Myst-Masterpiece ? With the achievement of the first release of Riven X, it should be great considering a "Myst M-X" project, which would be certainly less complex to lead to a working version.

With Riven X you have made a very good job !
Thanks a lot for this great work !

Best regards.

Sorry for the late reply.

Sadly no, Riven X is really designed only for Riven data files. I have no plans on working on any other Myst title at this time.

I have "Myst Masterpiece Edition" and have played it on my Win7 64bit 4GB Ram laptop (it's about a year old, I'm not a programmer!!).
It took a bit of tinkering with the 'Compatibility Mode' but played ok.. it did crash a few times (could have been my Bullguard) but I used ' Ctrl+Alt+Del ' and pressed the on screen button (sorry can't remember name) and continued playing and completed the game and have gone back to the finished game ... a free walk mode ... which is a nice way to conclude a game that you become so involved with ... With any game use the save function - often ! ... 16 sept 2013 (first post)
Self confessed Myst, Riven, Exile ... FAN ! (I haven't got a copy of the others ... yet ...)
I could say more ...
