How to confirm mac osx server is running?

I have noticed that with recent Mac updates the software doesn't work anymore. I haven't had a chance to fix it yet, and I'm not sure when I'll be able to get around to it.

It's all open source, so you or someone else may come along and fix it before I get a chance to.
