"Connecting you to the Ubuntu One Music Store" forever

Asked by Ted_Smith

When I run Rhythmbox 0.12.8 on Ubuntu 10.04 using kernel 2.6.32-27-generic the Ubuntu One store opens OK. I can browse for songs, titles etc. When I click 'Purchase' it just get "Connecting you to the Ubuntu One Music Store..." forever. It never completes.

I have tried enabling and disabling the plugin via Preferences. Same problem.

I have tried shutting down and restarting the application. Same problem.

I ahve tried running u1sdtool -c but it just comopletes without returning any message and Rhythmbox continues with the same problem.

I note the error is replicated in the following (and now nearly one year old) bug reports, solutions of which I have tried without success.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store/+bug/586017
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/banshee-community-extensions/+bug/609731
https://bugs.launchpad.net/rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store/+bug/564124

I am really excited at the potential of having an iTunes like system on my Ubuntu desktop so I would love it if you guys could help me fix this.

Having done an update and reboot and having disabled ABE blocking in NoScript (Firefox plugin), my system now appears to be working again and having allowed what needed to be allowed, Rhythmbox now comes up with the payment screen.

Thanks anyway
