NZ Music for NZ Music Month

Asked by Ian Beardslee

NZ Music Month http://nzmusic.org.nz/nz-music-month or http://www.nzmusicmonth.co.nz is coming up in May, just after Lucid is released.

How is the best way for the organisers of NZ Music Month to get in contact with the right people to work through promoting NZ Music Month to New Zealand users of the Ubuntu One Music Store? Of course there is no harm in promoting it to the rest of the world, but I'm wanting to see more happen for NZ.

Hi Ian - Yes. I'd like to find our more about to see if we can find a good way to participate in the Ubuntu One Music Store. Please contact me or I'll ping you on IRC. Thanks!

For others following this, contact with Matt has been made.

I'd sent an email to the organiser of the NZ Music Month steve [at] nzmusic [.] org [.] nz

Matt has said that "we do have some restrictions b/c of the fact that NZ is currently covered by the World store. i don't anticipate us adding more stores until after the 10.04 launch"

I've used the webform at http://nzmusic.org.nz/contact/ to resend pretty much the same message as the one sent to Steve, but this time with Matt's email address included in the message.

If other people feel like making some comments to Steve or via the NZ Music contact webform, please do so.

Also if you can have a nosey to see how much NZ music you can find on there. Anyone found a search by country?

I guess that as long as NZ gets bundled into the "Rest of the World" store we're unlikely to see any customisation on this sort of level. If you remember back it took years for iTunes to actually launch a New Zealand store.

At the moment our options for DRM free music from the major labels are pretty limited, so it'd be awesome if Canonical did manage to get some decent competition for Apple here down under.

On a slight aside, it is possible to sign up for a regular 7Digital account from NZ, as long as you set your location as UK ;)

Can you help with this problem?
