Do I need both the controller app and the information app?

Asked by Codplay

I've installed the app, and am able to add the icons to my Gnome panel (Ubuntu 7.10) and the Firefox plugin is installed. However, I was just wondering if I needed both icons in my panel - I like to keep things as clean as possible.

Thanks,

-Philip

No, you should only run one at a time.

Is there one I should run in preference to the other, or do they both serve the same purpose?

The information applet does the same thing as the controller applet, but it also displays how long you've been using the currently focused window. The information applet is significantly larger than the controller applet, though. Otherwise they should be exactly the same. Either one will track and upload your data for you.

Running both applets also has the symptom of the Information Applet being stuck in "Idle" status.

Yes, thanks gtg353g! I had both apps running (didn't realize they were the same thing), and was trying to figure out why it kept reporting "Idle".

I had a problem with the app uploading anything and I noticed that the app was only working when I had the control icon on the panel. Don't know whether this is only my problem but if you encounter a similar problem try changing the apps on the panel. Hope this helps

Can you help with this problem?
