documentation for (extension) development

Hi all,

I really like the rescuetime for linux uploader. It is working fine. I like that it's developped in python, and I also like the simple extensions folder where supposedly I can write extensions for other programs. But that is where my question comes in: are there some developer docs somewhere about the extensions. What can I do with them, how is the program name determined, what can I change with the appname and extended info. Etc.
I am more than happy to contribute some stuff that I find usefull for myself, but I would like some more docs.

I second this question. I'd love to develop an extension for Sublime Text 2 that gives extra information regarding which document is currently being edited. It's actually shown in the window title, but it's all jumbled together. For Example, in the Rescue Time Dashboard the activity looks like this: "~/projects/example/system/expressionengine/config/config.php (example) - sublime text 2 (uregistered)".
