can i preserve user settings / profiles / etc?

Asked by LambdaFox

I have a custom install in a virtual machine. I want to create a bootable cd from that.

I used relinux, and it works. Unfortunately the home directory is not preserved, and it sets up a default user called ubuntu.

I currently have a user called creatively "user" in my vm. All the settings and profile data for "user" appear to be ignored in this process.

Specific examples of what did not carry over:

1) the xfce4 panel settings
2) firefox does not open to a blank page instead of the default page
3) i have a bash script in the users folder that i want preserved but it was not

I am sure there are more, but those are a few concrete examples.

can i preserve user settings / profiles / etc with relinux?
