0.3.0a1 refused to boot beyond splash screen

Asked by Alex Mokrycki

Could be my abilities coming through (or lack of??), but after 2 runs on a fresh Lubuntu 11.10 install, I was unable to boot beyond the splash screen. My first run was with a slightly modified relinux.conf, changing usernames. Second time was unmodified, still no go. With 0.2.1b1 I was able create an ISO with an unmodified relinux.conf file, also on Lubuntu 11.10.

Coincidentally, the makeup of the relinux.conf file in 0.3.0a1 did seem to have more functionality to it, and the layout seemed improved. The options presented are a bit easier to make sense of.

I had the same problem with my VBox machine, and I thought it was only me.
I'm gonna test a possible fix

I too see this (Ubuntu, lots of customization)

it will load the bootsplash than nothing it just sits there, the progress bar loading forever....

it stops while loading the user, it seems (choosing the debug option on grub to see all terminal messages).

How can we help?

I think I found a possible fix, but VBox does not work well. Can anyone test it? It's on the latest BZR repo (just branch it, and copy usr and etc to /)
