red icon is looking for attention

Asked by Carles Sentis

This is more of a suggestion and a personal one. Not everybody or you may agree with you but the red icon on the top right corner is kinda annoying, is like if the application is looking for you attention just like went you have a new email, etc. In my opinion there could be other easier ways to indicate redlight is on. Like on suggestion would be like in the black and white comics, when a bulb is on is has little lines coming from it and when is switch of doesn't have any. I'm sure you know what I mean.

I know that there is a non panel indicator version which I may finish using instead. It was just a suggestion

ps - I like your idea, great little application, and I like the way you implemented redlight with the indicator applet. Good job !!!!

Yes, I agree that the mono icon (included in version 1.4.1 of Redshift) probably shouldn't be colored, but should mark the difference between on and off in another way. I get what you mean with the lines coming from the bulb; I'm going to suggest that to Joern Konopka who made the icons.

Here is a more stylized, monochrome version based on the existing icons for the ubuntu lucid dark theme:

Still a bit rough but I thought I'd share...

Can you help with this problem?
