Back Up Question

When I save my data onto my laptop it saves it into a file called Data that is within the Rednotebook file.
When I open that one file, there are multiple entries within this one file. Is this how it should be? I would've thought that each day of entry would have saved as a separate "page" within the "data" file. In other words, multiple entries would show up as multiple files within the Data file as opposed to them all being in one file.
Can someone please help explain this to me.
