How to Use Templates

Asked by James Connelly

I created a template that contains headings of information I want to enter on a daily basis. I saved the template. When I want to add the data, I pick a date, open the template, enter the data, and click save and insert. The template is now changed going forward, with the data for the previous day included as part of the template. I do not want to change the template, I just want to save the entry. How do I do that? What am I doing wrong?

I am brand new to RedNotebook and trying to decide if it is useful for me. Conceptually it seems like a great tool, but I am really struggling with the basics.

I recommend hitting "Save and insert" and then making your changes. This way the template won't be changed.

Can you help with this problem?
