Substitute for Tag Pane Comments

Asked by Kenneth Alan Clark

Dear Sir,
I began using Red Notebook a few weeks ago. I initially downloaded v1.14 (from Source Forge?) and used it to enter 18 months of data from a previous dairy application.
I then realised that this was an obsolete version, so I updated to v2.18 from GitHub.
I was disappointed to find that you have deprecated the Tag Pane. Using the Pane, my tag entries included brief comments. When searching for tags, these are displayed in the “Text” column of the search results. I find this extremely helpful in identifying specific entries.
I now add tags by simply typing #tagname. The “Text” column in the search results now shows the first line of text from that day’s entry. With my current template, that is always my current geographical location - not helpful.
Is there any way in which I can format my entry so that the Search Text box shows the text which I enter immediately following the tag?
If not, could you please consider enabling this as a future feature.

Something like this is planned. Please see https://github.com/jendrikseipp/rednotebook/issues/498#issuecomment-629081824 for details.

If this is implemented, it will exactly meet my needs. I prefer to use a small number of simple tags + comments, rather than a large number of complex tags. Could you please also consider adding a "tags" option to the Insert menu with a drop-down list of existing tags. It would avoid the possibility of accidentally creating different tags for the same subject (Computer, computer, computers, computing etc)
