I do not see the Cloud

I recently upgraded from a 1.x version to 2.8. Now when I start up, there is no Cloud, only a long list of words, which takes forever to scroll through. I really like the Cloud. I'd go back to the earlier version if I can't restore the Cloud. Anyone have any ideas. Btw, there was no * in the Preferences list. Help!!
